The
10th China Art Festival (CAF) was successfully completed at Qingdao
Grand Theatre in Qingdao, Shandong Province, on the evening of October 26. At
the closing ceremony and the flag handover ceremony of CAF, Ji Xiangqi,
representative of Shandong Province (the host province of the 10th CAF)
returned the festival flag to Dong Wei, who handed over it to Bai Aying,
representative of Shaanxi Province (the host province of the 11th CAF).
Cai Wu, Minister of Culture, Guo Shuqing, Governor of Shandong Province, Bai
Wenqi, Political Commissar of North China Sea Fleet, Dong Wei, Vice Minister of
Culture, Li Qun, secretary of the CPC Qingdao Municipal Committee of Shandong Province,
Sun Shougang, Director-General of Publicity Department of the CPC Shandong Provincial
Committee, Ji Xiangqi, Vice Governess of Shandong Province, Bai Aying, Vice Governess
of Shaanxi Province, Zhang Fuming, Vice Governor of Shanxi Province, and Yin
Dunping, Director of Political Department of North China Sea Fleet, were
present at the closing ceremony. Besides, representatives of judges of Splendor
Award and prize-winning art academies and troupes, winners of the Performance
Prize of Splendor Award, artists and representatives of all walks of life
attended the closing ceremony and watched the artistic performance. Cai Wu
delivered the closing speech and announced the completion of the 10th
CAF. He said, in the past 15 days, nearly 10,000 artists and artistic workers
from all provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, art academies and
troupes directly under the central government, PLA art troupes, Xinjiang
Production and Construction Corps, Taiwan and overseas gathered in Qingdao with
full of passions and dreams, presenting 133 excellent dramas, 647 excellent fine
art works and other culture and artistic works and revealing their talents and affections.
At the performance, artists of various schools unfolded diverse and colorful
art forms before people’s eyes and prepared an exquisite art feast for the
people who came to celebrate the happy festival. The 10th CAF
gathered exquisite artistic performances and showed the fruitful achievements
in China’s cultural construction and artistic creation in recent years; covered
a wide range of art academies and troupes to thoroughly enhance its influence; boasted
plain but solemn themes to highlight the artistic essence; integrated the functions
of stage performance, exhibition, contest and trades to show the artistic
achievements and promote the artistic products to the market; and benefited people
with culture and spread professional arts among the public. Cai Wu added, as
China stands at a new historical starting point, we face hard-won historical
opportunities for the cultural and artistic development. In response, we shall
rally closely around the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as
General Secretary; hold high the great banner of socialism with Chinese
characteristics; take Deng Xiaoping Theory, the important thought of Three
Represents and the Scientific Outlook on Development as our guide; adhere to
the people-oriented creation principle; place the artistic creation at the
service of people; and seize opportunities and make progressive efforts with a
strong sense of social responsibility and historical mission. Furthermore, our
artist and cultural workers shall draw colorful artistic paintings, eulogize the
spirited age and write chapters for building a powerful cultural country, so as
to make a greater contribution to achieve the Chinese dream of achieving the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. At the closing ceremony and
the flag handover ceremony of CAF, Ji Xiangqi, representative of Shandong
Province (the host province of the 10th CAF) returned the festival
flag to Dong Wei, who handed over it to Bai Aying, representative of Shaanxi
Province (the host province of the 11th CAF). All leaders and guests
presented there, together with all audiences, watched the 10th CAF’s
video to review wonderful moments and enjoyed clips of some performances presented
at the 10th CAF. Reportedly, at the 10th CAF, altogether
87 performances competed for prizes of the 14th Splendor Award; 133
performances were presented; 884 works, 157 public cultural programs and 117
candidates competed for prizes of the 16th Galaxy Award; Finally,
totally 220 works and 110 programs won corresponding prizes of the 14th
Splendor Award, and 100 individuals won the honor of the “Star of Artists”. Moreover,
above 600 performing art institutions brought nearly 2,000 performances at 2013
China (Shandong) Performing Art Product Fair, and then reached cooperation for
altogether 86 performing art projects, with a total contract amount of up to
RMB902 million. So far, 160,000 people have visited the national excellent fine
art work exhibition of the 10th CAF.
