The Opera Red River Valley was
adapted from the movie of the same name directed by Feng Xiaoning. With the
background as the invasion of Tibet by a British troop in the early 20th
century, it’s a heroic epic about the love for the nation and the country. The
playwrights were Chen Wei and Qian Xiaotian; The composers was Meng Weidong and
the director was Chen Wei. It was created by China National Opera & Dance
Drama Theater, and first performed at Beijing Poly Theater on August 24, 2011.
It won the 14th Wenhua Award in 2013.
