Wu Xuhai Participates in 2014 China Symphony Summit in Hangzhou

During July 19 to 21, 2014, Wu Xuhai, President of CNODDT Symphony Orchestra, was invited to participate in 2014 China Symphony Summit (CSS) sponsored by China Symphony Development Foundation and Publicity Department of the CPC Hangzhou Municipal Committee and organized by Hangzhou Wenguang Group and Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra. CSS, as the highest-end conference in the domestic symphony circle, has been successfully held for nine sessions since 2005 and drawn increasingly more attentions from domestic and foreign professionals. In the past six years, in addition to local orchestras, CSS has also attracted leaders of orchestras and professional orchestra associations from Russia, the U.S.A., Hungary, Denmark and other countries and regions. At 2014 CSS, more than 60 representatives from nationwide and artistic troupes directly under the Ministry of Culture gathered to review the past, discuss current situations, look into the future, so as to seek a plan for the development of China’s symphony undertaking; Meanwhile, they also carefully listened to important reports, lectures and interviews. Wu Xuhai, President of CNODDT Symphony Orchestra, delivered a speech entitled Artistic and Commercial Characters of Symphony, saying, “Perhaps only a few orchestras can make the so-called true art in ivory tower; Most artists have to solve how to enhance the popularity of symphonies while improving the quality of symphonies in the long run.” On the evening of July 20, the participants appreciated a wonderful performance of Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra at Hangzhou Grand Theater.
