The opera Wildness in four acts
tells a story of the young peasant Qiu Hu who avenged his father's murder and
the love story between him and his lover Jin Zi. It was adapted by Wan Fang
from the stage play of the same name created by the dramatist Cao Yu, with the
composer as Jin Xiang and director as Li Daochuan. It was created by China
National Opera & Dance Drama Theater, and first performed at Beijing
Tianqiao Theater on July 25, 1987. The opera won the 9th Wenhua
Award in 2000.
