The Cultural Festivals of SCO Member States and BRICs Countries Held Onlin

On January 5th, 2021, the Cultural Festivals of SCO Member States and BRICs Countries Held Online sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of Russian Federation were officially launched online. Hu Heping, Minister of Culture and Tourism of China, and other Ministers of Culture from relevant countries delivered video messages for the event.


Speaking at the Cultural Festival of SCO Member States, Hu Heping said that the COVID-19 pandemic is still spreading all over the world and the international situation is becoming complicated. Therefore, it’s significant to deepen civilization-related communication and mutual learning and promote harmonious co-existence of civilization. At the 20th Meeting of heads of State Council of the SCO, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed to promote people-to-people connectivity and build humanistic community. He hoped that this cultural festival will show the excellent culture of the SCO, while enabling people to be closer to each other emotionally and join hands to make contributions to the construction of a closer community of common destiny.
Speaking at the BRICS Cultural Festival, Hu Heping said that the outbreak of COVID-19 has severely impacted the global culture and tourism, so today more than ever, every country needs to work together through thick and thin. At the 12th Meeting of the leaders of BRICs countries, Chinese President Xi Jinping pointed out that the member countries should discuss a plan for the cooperative prevention and control of COVID-19 and draw up a blueprint for BRICS development. China is willing to continue to work with the BRICS member states, strengthen communication and enhance mutual trust in an open and inclusive manner and upholding the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind so as to jointly fend off the challenges of COVID-19 and make contributions to building a better world with practical actions.
The SCO Member States Cultural Festival and BRICs Cultural Festival are two important cultural activities under the working framework of Russia as the rotating presidency of the two international organizations in 2020. The Chinese Symphony Orchestra and the Chinese Opera and Dance Theater will perform at the cultural festivals on behalf of China.
